There are many alcoholics around the world. Alcoholism brought damages not only to the alcoholics but also to people around them. There are many broken families due to alcoholism. Being an alcoholic is not easy and quitting the addiction is not a simple process. Alcoholics can be treated in an alcoholism rehab centers or at home, depending on their will and severity of condition. If you’re close to an alcoholic, you can try to influence him or her to admit that he or she is an alcoholic and needs to go through alcoholism rehab process. You can ask the help of a doctor to advise the alcoholic to enter an alcoholism rehab.  Although there are people and groups that aim in helping these people, here are some things that you can do for them.

1. There are some alcoholic rehab facilities that provide help to individuals who want to make a change in their lives. Such facilities like the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Al-Anon are available to provide information on how you can help your loved ones. Do some research and gather information about alcoholism rehab centers and processes.
2. Allow an alcoholic to realize that he needs to go to an alcoholism rehab. Help him to go there and provide the necessary support that you can give.
3. Let him experience the result of his actions. Inside the alcoholism rehab, allow him to suffer the consequences of being an alcoholic. Do not show sympathy towards him. Be firm and strong. If he asks you to remove him from the alcoholism rehab, have the courage to refuse. Show him that you will no longer tolerate his actions but you are always welcome to help.
4. Formulate a plan of an intervention. Involve the families and loved ones of the alcoholic to be a part of the alcoholism rehab team. Provide them with all the necessary information that they will need to understand the alcoholic’s condition and how they can help him.  Explain to them that they are very important part in the alcoholism rehab process and their support can make all the difference. They must show the alcoholic that he is loved and they are willing to help him win this fight.
5. Tell them that they need to stop the support the alcohol addiction. The family and friends should stop funding the alcoholic’s drinking habits. This is one way of showing that they love their loved one who is undergoing alcoholism rehab. They need to make him feel that they are there to support him.
