Back pain is common and sometimes the causes and possible cures for the pain are not seen. The reasons for this failure is simply lack of knowledge on systems of healing and the practice of prescribing medicines rather than searching for answers.Despite the existence of capable doctors, most lack accurate knowledge on the spinal column and central nervous system. This lack is further compounded by failing to see the role of misaligned bones and spinal components in back pain. Other causes of back pain exist and are, sitting too long, lack of stretching exercises, etc.
Identification of Back Pain
Serious back pain will be indicated in MRI or CT scans. X-rays will also show the conditions of the back but as these reports are used to review all areas of the body, not only the alignment of the bones and spine, most times the x-rays will only show what the doctor is looking for. Back pain and chronic back conditions need a professional specializing in analyzing the spine and bones.
Back pain includes sciatica, which causes pain that may be intermittent or even chronic and may require surgery to correct and is considered the worst sort of back pain. Even in mild cases, bending forwards or downwards, can be almost impossible. It is a problem that includes the spine, joints, and even the connective elements in the spinal column linked to the whole body.
The Structure of the Back
The spinal column is made up of muscles and bones and also central nerves. It is held together by disks, connective tissues, tendons and ligaments. A person standing erect has the spine's elements joining to apply tension.
The lower back includes the backbone and the hip joints. The hip joints are connected to the pelvis and these elements join the spinal column in the lower back and at the baseline of the spine.
These large bones are attached to the legs, which are the providers of strength and support to the spinal column. Thick bones, at the opposite side of the thick cord of nerve tissues known as the spinal cord, are near the neck. The spinal cord is a thick and white colored nerve cord which is surrounded by tissues. It extends from the base of the brain to the end of the spinal column.
These elements working together give the ability to move and provide flexibility while directing the organs.
Stress and Back Pain
The large group of bones at the lower end, the small base, and the structure at the top, holds up the spine. Stress occurs at the lower area, as just below it, large muscles are at work, directing and creating movement. The legs move, thus putting brutal stress on the vertebrae.
The lumbar spinal disk at the back is affected by this stress. Consider that each time we bend and sit, more than 500 pounds is applied to this area, which is converted onto, a possibly one square inch sized area, around the disks. No wonder we have back pain.
