Foot and Heel Pain
The most common cause of heel pain and heel spurs is a condition called Plantar Fasciitis. This is Latin for inflammation of the Plantar Fascia. The Plantar Fascia is the broad band of fibrous tissue that runs under the foot and that forms your arch. Because of a number of different factors the plantar fascia are being overly stretched and this continuous pulling results in inflammation and pain at the heel bone, at the point where the ligaments insert into the heel bone. Over-pronation of the feet (fallen arches + rolling inward of the feet and ankles), tight calf muscles, as well as ageing and being overweight are the main causes for the plantar fascia being overly stretched.
Like many people, you may be suffering from plantar fascia pain that is so severe that it may stop doing everyday things in life. Today, plantar fascia pain is a very common type of foot condition. The soreness can start off as an irritating pain that you feel once in a while, and develop into an acute pain that is felt every day. Sometimes, heel pain can go away on its own, but, if left untreated, the pain in the heel can worsen. There are usually two places on the heel that people complain of pain, under the heel and in the back of the heel. Commonly, when people suffer from pain in the back of the heel it is related to excessive use or inflammation of the Achilles tendon. When people experience heel pain, it can be caused by a person stepping on a large stone or rock which bruises the heel, or it can be caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia.
Ever stepped out of bed in the morning only to hop back in because you felt a sharp pain in the bottom of your foot? Arch pain or heel pain can signal a condition called plantar fascitis and can keep you off your feet for months at a time. It's hard to treat, slow to heal and hurts like heck with every step. The best way to deal with this condition is to prevent it.
You're a candidate for plantar fascitis if you walk or stand for a living. Or if you're a jogger, or player of any sport that involves regular, sustained running. Especially if you rarely stretch afterwards. Years of wearing flip-flops or going barefoot can do it, too. You're even more at risk if either or both of your feet pronate.
In planning their trips, vacationers start thinking about their new outfits and ways to enjoy the outdoors. Often times, this means fashionable but flimsy unsupportive footwear. Even if it is cute, it may not be adequate to support your feet when walking long distances. Many people don't seem to realize this.
Many people walk more when they're on vacation than when at home. There are sights to see and things to do. You wander and stroll about enjoying your trip, but racking up the miles. You must wear supported shoes.
Nowadays, most adults face severe foot pain. Today, surviving through a foot pain is a major problem. A painful foot makes a day tougher as you are unable to carry your body to the place of desire. In addition, people with foot pain usually face a lot of problems in completing their daily chores. Most people stand on their feet for long and usually do not use quality shoes to ensure protection of their feet properly. A discomfort situation usually causes a lot of pain in your feet and thus, you will find it difficult to walk around.
Children have their share of foot pain, just like adults. Many conditions that cause adult pain can also cause pain in children. At times, there are conditions unique to children that are the source of their pain. Prompt recognition and treatment is important for foot problems in children, as some conditions can have long-reaching complications into adulthood.
